Joseph Ujoku (6’6″, F), Abdulwahab Yakoubu(6’5″, SG) and Eli Abraham (6’0″, PG), all from Nigeria, are in the country to play for the defending Champions NPA Pythons. The trio who arrived two days ago were spotted last night during the Mighty Barrolle vs Bushrod Bulls match.
Joseph is not new to Liberia basketball fans. He was a part of the team which won the 2019/2020 championship. After the game many fans who recognized him approached him and you could see them taking selfie, or just chit chatting with them.
Abdulwahab and Eli are both here for the first time. Abdulwahab and Eli both played for Kano Pillars, one of the biggest teams in Nigeria. They both has also played for the National Team of Nigeria.
Their arrival is at the right time with the pending match-up against Mighty Barrolle and their French Trio.
Liberiabasketball.com caught up with Joseph and welcome him back into the country. “I am here to defend the championship I won with Python last season,” he said.
With some days of practice before the Sunday match, hopefully all three will be able to settle down and put in some practice with Pythons. Everyone is excited to see how this unfolds.
Basketball is back!!!
