Led by Fedolph Marshall 35PTS and 16REB, St. Edward High School defeated Riverview Christian Academy 66 54 in the first semi final. D. Kperun added 20PTS and 13REB in the victory, while I Weah scored 30PTS for RCA in the losing effort. St Edward is now in the final.
Must be an exciting week for the young student athlete who is slowly becoming a household name in the basketball arenas here in Liberia. Earlier this week, he led Visioneers in a blowout upset over Bushrod Bulls. Since the victory many tongues are wagging that he and his teammates seems poised to cause stir in D1 by beating a top tire team in their first meeting.
St Edward is looking good to win the YMCA Back To School Tourney for the 3rd time straight in row. Last year they were close to winning it before the COVID Pandemic put a halt to all sports in the country.
Marshall shot 11 of 29 from the field. His persistent penetration to the basket saw him on the free-throw line numerous times. He made 13 of his 27 attempts at the charity stripe and dish five dimes.
His team mate, D Kperun, went 7 of 15 from the field and hit two crucial three pointers from four attempts.
RCA skipper, I Weah who lead his team in PTS had a rough shooting day. Although he had 30PTS but it came from making 7 of 19 attempts from behind the arc.
In total, RCA had a whooping 41 attempts from three points land, making only 9. St Edward shot 11 and made 3 from similar distance.
We at Liberiabasketball.com believe that RCA is going out with head high! In their debut they went 8-0 before falling to Marshall and the St. Edward team. They floored Don Bosco and tournament favorite Nathan E Gibson on their way to the semis, both team comprising of players from the current D3 champion team.
